Aviation authority officials and lawyers met Monday with the contractor on the parking deck project, Gulfstream Construction, a Hanahan-based unit of The Beach Co. [David Jennings] said the authority is withholding about 10 percent of what it owes Gulfstream because of the delay and a number of other issues, although he would not say how much that amounts to. Gulfstream officials did not return.

The airport has butted heads with Gulfstream a number of times this year. It ordered Gulfstream crews off the site in January when the airport’s inspectors.

In March the authority revoked a $2.25 million Gulfstream contract to build a rain canopy between the terminal and the new garage. Jennings said Gulfstream submitted a number of plans for the rain deck that were not in line with contract.
