Lorene Stuhr Dukes (Rene) practices in the areas of family law, employment law, education law, and personal injury. Personal Information
Rene was born and raised in Charleston. She currently lives in Mt. Pleasant with her husband, Preston. They have two children. Rene is an active member of St. Andrew's Church.
Background
After graduating from high school, Rene attended the University of Virginia, where she obtained a B.A. degree in psychology. She returned to Charleston in 1984 and began working on her Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling at The Citadel. While pursuing her graduate degree, she began her legal career as a paralegal at Rosen, Rosen & Hagood, LLC. She initially worked full-time on the Charleston County school desegregation case and thereafter expanded into family law, employment discrimination matters, and other general litigation. After nearly twenty years with the firm, she left full-time employment to attend the Charleston School of Law. She earned her Juris Doctor in May 2009, graduating magna cum laude.
While in law school, Rene was the Research Editor for the Federal Courts Law Review. She was also an active member of the Moot Court Board and participated in other organizations including Women in Law and the Christian Legal Society. Rene was included on the Dean's List for all six semesters and received CALI awards in Civil Procedure I and Constitutional Law for obtaining the highest class score.
During her final year at Charleston School of Law, Rene served at Charleston County Pro Bono Legal Services. She also continued to work at Rosen, Rosen & Hagood as a law clerk. In August 2009, she joined the firm as an associate.
